You can connect Attentive with Shopify to enable a variety of features that can grow your list of SMS subscribers. With this integration, you can:

Note that Attentive’s tag is automatically installed on your Shopify website as part of the integration setup process. Attentive’s tag allows your sign-up units to be displayed and observes important data on your site that powers various parts of your SMS program, such as product views, cart adds, and purchases.

Step 1. Set up the integration in Attentive

Complete the following procedure to set up the integration in Attentive’s platform:

  1. Navigate to the integrations setup page and select Shopify. The Shopify Overview page appears.
  2. Click Get Started to enter your integration information on the setup page.
  3. Enter your Shopify Shop URL. For example, you can enter siren-denim.myshopify.com or siren-denim.
  4. Click Set up Integration.
      • Important! By clicking this button, you are authorizing bidirectional data sharing between Attentive and Shopify.

        You are redirected to your Shopify store and there is a request to install the Attentive app. Note that permissions are preset with the public app.
  5. Click Install app. You are redirected to Attentive and your Shopify store is now connected.

The Collect Marketing Subscribers at Checkout setting in the Settings tab is enabled once you are connected to Shopify. Historical and real-time marketing SMS subscriber opt-ins are synchronized between both the Attentive and Shopify platforms. See Set up marketing subscriber collection for Shopify for details.

Step 2. Edit Shopify integration settings in Attentive

Complete the following procedure to update any settings for your Shopify integration:

  1. Navigate to the integrations setup page and select Shopify in the Your Apps section. The Shopify Overview page appears.
  2. Click the Settings tab.

  3. Enable the Ingest Transactional Events setting to synchronize historical and real-time transactional SMS subscriber opt-ins between the Attentive and Shopify platforms. With this setting enabled, Attentive can also see transactional events, like completing a purchase. See Set up transactional subscriber collection and messages for Shopify for details.
  4. (Optional) Edit the Sync Customer Data setting. This allows you to create targeted segments based on your Shopify customer data. This is required in order to sync past purchases. By default, this setting is enabled.
  5. Click Save changes. Your Shopify integration is updated.

Verify tag installation

When you visit your Shopify website, if the tag is implemented correctly, you will see several network requests including https://cdn.attn.tv/attn.js
