If you need to pause a campaign -- for example, if you notice a typo or stock has run low on an item promoted by a campaign -- you can pause it until the mistake is fixed, and then resume it. While paused, you can edit campaign copy and images, but you’ll need to ask your CSM to make changes to edit the destination of a shortlink.

You should know

Depending on the status of the campaign, you see different options for pausing campaigns in the three dot menu:

  • Sending campaigns can be paused, and then edited from the Delivered tab.

  • Scheduled campaigns can be paused and edited from the Scheduled tab.

  • Queued campaigns can be paused and edited in the Scheduled tab.

If you pause a campaign while it’s …

  • Scheduled: it moves to the Drafts tab with the Draft status. You can edit it, delete it, or relaunch it.
  • Sending: it moves to the Delivered tab with the Paused status. You can edit it, end the campaign, or resume sending.

Campaign statuses

Campaigns can have multiple different statuses, but only one at a time. Campaigns can be:

  • Sending: Found in the Scheduled tab. A campaign that is actively sending to subscribers right now. You can:
    • Do nothing, and let the campaign continue sending messages until the campaign ends. Once ended, the campaign becomes Delivered.
    • Pause the campaign. Its status becomes Paused and it moves to the Delivered tab, where you can edit it.
  • Queued: Found in the Scheduled tab. A campaign that is waiting in line to begin sending. You can:
    • Do nothing, and let the campaign wait in line until it becomes Sending.
    • Pause and edit the campaign directly, and then relaunch it when you’re finished making edits.
  • Scheduled: Found in the Schedule tab. A campaign that is scheduled for a time or date. You can:
    • Do nothing. When the campaign’s scheduled date and time arrives, it becomes queued.
    • Pause and edit the campaign directly, and then relaunch when you’re finished making edits. If you paused a scheduled campaign, it moves to the Drafts tab with the Draft status.
  • Ended: Found in the Delivered tab. A campaign that ended, either because it finished sending messages to each subscriber in the segment you selected.
  • Paused: Found in the Delivered tab. A campaign that was paused. You can:
    • Edit the campaign
    • End the campaign: End the campaign right now, regardless of how many subscribers in the selected segments received the campaign. Note that ended campaigns have the Delivered status and are found in the Delivered tab.
    • Resume the campaign: Available for campaigns that were paused during sending. Returns the campaign to Queued if the campaign was set to Send Now.
  • Draft: Found in the Drafts tab. A campaign that was either never launched, or one that was paused. You can:
    • Do nothing. The campaign remains a draft in the Drafts tab.
    • Edit the copy or images used in the campaign, and then relaunch it.
  • Delivered: Found in the Delivered tab. A campaign that was delivered to each of the subscribers in the segment you selected.
